Here we go FINALLY!!!1

Updated: Jun 27, 2022

It has taken me well close to turning 40 (well 39 years young to be exact) to finally get the courage to write my thoughts down. After years and years of thinking about it and writing in my own head I have started my own blog. As for the written pages in my head well that's for another day. I hope this blog will give you the reader time to wonder into my world, share my life experiences (most of them disastrous) some laughs, joy and hope that no matter how difficult life is you are not alone.

For now lets just see start here and see where this takes us. As you have already gathered I am not a seasoned writer, or is my English perfect. Yes English is not my first language and I learnt it at school. Talking about how I learnt to speak and write English........

Let me take you back to my first years of primary school and nursery. I was what you call a very 'talkative child'. (Yes I can ramble on and on about everything and nothing . lol). My mother who was keen to give me the best of the education provided in Southern Africa I went to what they classified as an 'A' school. I was taken to school every day (bright and early) except weekends. School was fun as it meant more time playing and not doing chores at home. I was and still rather a stubborn child. I refused to interact in English. From nursery to Primary 2 my school record at the end of the year always said 'Shows great potential but does not put much effort. Very talkative and unable to communicate in the preferred language (which of course was English)'.

My mother being an academic herself decided enough was enough and declared a statement to the whole household stating that 'I was to address and interact with everyone in the house in English'. If this was not followed it was clear in the message that an a.... whooping would come my way. Talking about being whooped I was given the task every day to get my own beating stick on the way from school and nicely place it in front of my favourite item in the house the 'TV'. lol just thinking about this makes me giggle. Needless to say the stick was used every day, how that was even possible is beyond me...

Anyway back to English, I became the only English speaker in the house while the rest of the household spoke to me in my mother tongue and I would have to interact in English. This worked some treat as I am some what fluent in English both spoken and written but hey hey hey the African in me still has a strong force......

Back to my blog, I apologise in Advance for any grammatical errors, spellings and my sometimes direct translation from my mother tongue to English that will happen on this blog....

Hope you enjoy my blog as I will definitely enjoy writing it.

If you enjoyed this article, share it with your friends ......Remember YOLO
